Cox Wine Merchants

Born on the sunny North Coast of NSW in Ballina, Tim attended the University of NSW in the late 1980's. His career in the hotel industry commenced when he started work at the world famous Coogee Bay Hotel in 1990. Firstly as a "glassy", Tim worked his way through the ranks to become General Manager and then Group General Manager for the C.inc group of hotels.

It was at the Coogee Bay that his love affair with wine (and a girl from England!) would kick off. Tim worked with Southcorp Wines (Penfolds, Wynns, Lindemans, etc), and then onto Fosters Group and the Wine Society, Tim used his 20 years experience to set-up Cox Wine Merchants (CWM) in 2009.

Tim relocated to Alstonville in late 2014 up on the plateau overlooking his old home town of Ballina. The focus is now his own brand Allegiance Wines.

Tim has travelled extensively through the wine regions of Australia along with France, Spain, Italy and Germany. He is fascinated by the nuances that different regions and sub regions brings to wine and enjoys investigating them at the vineyard! His passion for creating premium wines has lead him to produce some outstanding expressions from varied wine regions around the country. Only if he is completely satisfied that each wine is of the highest quality possible will it join Allegiance Wines. His pledge is a commitment to combine outstanding viticulture and winemaking every vintage.

Our wines are made from grapes or semi-finished wines purchased from Australia's premium regions made to our winemaker's instructions. The emphasis on quality is reflected in the enormous number of domestic and international gold medals along with fantastic reviews from wine critics.

Over the last 5 years, Allegiance Wines has grown across a wide selection of wines, ranges, regions and varietals - served in a select list of wine clubs, hotels, bottleshops, clubs, cafes and restaurants from Fraser Island to Melbourne. Allegiance Wines are exported to China and New Zealand.

His passion for wine is matched only by his obsession with cricket and a podcast called Sizzletown!

Now it's up to you. Join with Allegiance Wines and reward yourself with the pledge of quality we have made from vine to glass!
