TYPE: organic red wine in oak barrel aged

VARIETIES: 100% Red Grenache

CHARACTERISTICS: 35 years old vineyards. Fermented in stainless steel tanks for 7 days at 24-26ºC followed by maceration of about 21 days. The wine is aged in French and American oak barrels for 12 months.

CAPACITY: 75 cl.

TASTE NOTES:

Colour: red cherry, clean and bright.

Aroma: Black fruit and red ripe fruit, mineral and spicy. Light toasted and integrated oak.

Palate: With body and complexity. Liquorice notes, red and black fruit.

FOOD PAIRING: To accompany red and

game meats, grilled, stew, cheeses, chocolate etc

TASTING TEMPERATURE: Ideal to serve at

Winery history

Vins Algars is a small family winery founded in 1940. It is located in Batea, a village of Terra Alta, an area with a lot of wine-growing tradition. Vins Algars is making wines during several generations. In 2009, we decided start to work all the lands under the rules of organic farming, and to produce our wines exclusively with organic certification. Wine is born from the soil. That is why the winery decided to take maximum care, respecting the nature of the grapes that give rise to our wines.

Vintage 2016 has clearly marked a before and after in our history. The fourth generation takes over the reins. We decided to bet strongly for territory, by the own ecological vines and to adhere to the program of Reserva de la Biosfera de les Terres de l'Ebre. We had study the way to reform an old winery located in the town center. A great investment is initiated for modernize the facilities and make the elaboration more efficient, without losing the identity of the area. Thus, our wines are mainly made with Garnacha Blanca and Garnacha Negra, although we also have foreign varieties to complement the blends.

The objective is to be able to improve in each production, to continue learning every day and especially enjoy what we do. To keep getting excited with each tasting and with every smell of the winery and our lands. Carry on feel the nerves of every vintage as if it were the first, because all this makes us feel alive. Understand the viticulture as our lifestyle. Teaching our children they can fight for all they like, although the road is difficult. Respecting people, the Earth and the territory that has seen them grow up.
