Tasting notes of winery's winemaker

This outstanding wine is created from fine autochthonous Armenian grape variety Areni harvested from 120 year-old vines situated at 1600m altitude above sea level. For creation of Voskevaz Karasi Collection, Areni Noir was used the harmonious combination of traditional karas (Armenian clay amphorae) and local oak barrel. The wine presents itself in a ruby-red robe with scents of red fruits, spices and oak notes. A harmonic balance of acidity with a multitude of berry-like aromas, smooth silky tannins and a long lasting persistence distinguish this noble wine.

This wine represents the real native character of Armenia.

Vinification: Fermentation and maceration in traditional karases (clay amphoraes of 1000 litres) at 16-25 °C.

Aging process: Aged in Armenian oak barrels of 225 litres for 14 months.

Other awards for this wine/spirit

Gold medal at Mundus Vini in 2018.

Voskevaz Winery

Voskevaz Winery was founded in 1932. Both traditional and modern wine-making technologies are used to produce incredible “Voskevaz” wines. Only native grape varieties such as Hagtanak, Kangun, Areni, Karmrahyut, Muscat Vardabuyr, Kakhet and Voskehat (Kharji) are used in our wine production. The concept of the Winery is to recreate and keep the heritage of traditional Armenian wine-making. In order to follow this concept our winemakers use ancient 100 years old karases (Armenian clay amphora) for wine ageing. Due to the unique Armenian terroir and ideal climate Voskevaz Winery’s team creates indigenous Armenian wines.
